Safe Motherhood and Child Health

Maternal and child mortality during pregnancy and the early years as well as a host of disabilities can be prevented if proper medical intervention, neo-natal care and nutrition are provided to women and children during and after pregnancy. To address this very same issue IMPACT Nepal has strategically developed its safe motherhood and child health programme to scale up and intensify the Government’s national maternal and neo-natal support programmes in the districts of Rautahat and Saptari. The major activities under this programme includes following up on women for their regular ante-natal care (ANC) and post-natal care (PNC), supply of  supply of  equipment and instruments  to health centres/health posts , distribution of vitamin A and iron tablets to  pregnant women, nutritional supplementation, home gardening, health awareness, immunizations to children under 5 years and pregnant mothers against tetanus
